flirty girl fitness

Flirty Girl Fitness from raymi lauren on Vimeo.

i know right. if you need me i’ll be doing the splits, biking around the hood a thousand times and sit-upping my brains out. turns out blondie on the left is daina, dodgeball ringer from the budd cup. our team has played against hers twice in the playoffs. i gladly told her i got her ex-bf out last tourney (he is equally as ripped as her) and she was impressed. she works for flirty girl fitness and they were doing a pole dancing demo last nite for the harley event at the liberty grand (more on that to come). we (gill, traci melchor, allison) were out on the terrace, a chick runs out exclaiming a pole dancing performance is happening and we all beeline in (the event last nite was strictly vagine only so you can imagine)(there were even chip n dale lookin’ shirtless dudes walking and posing around haha) ok here’s some pics of how flexible you aren’t.

daina is awesome, i’m glad i finally approached her and introduced myself. if not for the dodgeball “in” it wouldn’t have happened. she said they try and keep it sporty when they do their presentations and for women only because those cutesy moves once a horny dude mob is hangin’ around all of a sudden ain’t so cutesy anymore (yeah thanks pervs, you ruin everything). so yeah if you want to check out the studio it’s conveniently located on wellington, west of spadina. map here.

and because i love you check out this hotness:

i didn’t know i had a mullet. there were several shots taken and they used this one cos i finally sort of smiled in it. SMILING ISN’T MY THING YOU STRANGER! anyway, couldn’t resist, free photostand with a wind machine (fan).

vroom vroom on my way to awkwardville!

  1. Did you try it? I used to have that same stage before I lived in a cube like condo. Keeps you MAD fit! You should try a class. Hard, but fun.

  2. and what do you mean by that???? do you have any idea how much TIME thought effort work goes into this?

honestly i thought about it some more and i am even angrier (i spilled espresso all over the kitchen floor thanks to you).

you know daily i have other work to do aside from blogging which is also work, piles of emails to go through, photos, videos, contacts to keep track of etc etc on top of personal projects and appointments and for you to fly by and tell me this is a bloggomercial? seriously, rude. try doing a week of my life and see how your blog looks.

  3. commercials are the reason why there is fun in the world, be it blogs, tv, newspapers, magazines. if you want an endorsement free world, say bye bye to entertainment as a whole.

  4. shit that didn’t even occur to me that was his angle haha.

well that is doubly annoying – events are the perks one receives from years of busting their ass making a name on the netzsa glbuer;ugbo;grf im so angry right now here is his email and my response

    Raymi:

You know, I should first apologize.

I think that your Blog is great, and I certainly don’t mean to create some public spectacle where I seem to be slagging you. Nope. Don’t want to do that. I probably should have just sent you an email, and not posted in the comments section. My bad.

What’s becoming clear to me is that your Blog is becoming subordinate to your business interests, that is to say the sponsors that invite you to functions, or pay you in swag or cash to publicize their products. Obviously, an audience is going to feel manipulated, and probably a little pissed off when they see that the cool kid they’ve been following, is actually, you know, using them. I’ve reduced this to the language of high school and I suspect it’s more complex than that, but for me, the Blog is a lot less, well, alive, when it’s selling me a product other than Raymi the Minx.

Through force of personality and talent, you’ve taken your Blog to great heights, and I suppose making money is the next step in that direction, but it changes, and perhaps even defines the Blog, and I think that’s kind of sad. For me, it’s like watching a favourite TV show jump the shark.

    That’s all.

DO YOU THINK IM GETTING PAID TO GO TO AN EVENT DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW MUCH WORK AND STRUGGLE THIS IS FOR ME ON TOP OF TONS OF SHITTY COMMENTS RIDICULE FOR TEN YEARS.

for you to make an assumption like that is beyond fucking irritating.

i live my life and i blog it.

i take advantage of free perks that i DESERVE after busting my ass for so long and getting nothing.

it doesnt stop me from blogging my normal share of things so avert your eyes when i drop a link to whatever the hell website i’m generously giving a hand.

promoting pole dancing is an ulterior motive here so i can get a free class out of it – i met the girl after realizing i knew her, dug her, linked her. end of story.

i am so fucking pissed off right now i cant even finish this.

to pass it off as jumping the shark is retarded and childish and suspiciously canadian – we just can’t handle seeing our peers succeed so when we think they are anywhere close to doing so we attack. fuck you apology not accepted.

becoming successful does not equal jumping the shark.

  5. I wouldn’t even have thought of this as advertising if dude hadn’t pointed it out.

I mean, he does kinda have a point – it WOULD suck if a blog lost some of its authenticity by writing stuff only for material gain, rather than for entertainment or expression. It’s just boring to read, no matter how much it is “deserved.”

But like I said, I don’t think you’re doing that. You’re just writing about your life, which now happens to include perks. It’s not success that equals jumping the shark, but sacrificing authenticity for success. I don’t know if you’re even capable of doing that.

  6. So here’s the way I see it.

Your fans love you because you’re no-holds-barred. You share your life and you don’t mince words. This is how you became one of Canada’s top bloggers…

So people know your name, they know who you are – and they invite you to parties and tastings and galas.

So when you get invited to these events – are you supposed to turn down the invites so that you’re not associated with some sort of ‘sell-out’ stigma OR are you supposed to NOT blog about said events…

You blog about what you do with your day – if you happen to go to a party or event or sample a product or go to a trade show, it is something that happened in your day. If people cause a stink I would start posting blank blogs that say “went to an event today – sorry, you don’t seem to want to know about these things” and see how fast they start complaining about THAT.

  7. it didn’t even occur to me that was his angle either until sass commented. still steamed.

i think there’s some thinly veiled jealousy behind what is inspiring this opinion. if i promoted every single product/band/movie/event i was emailed to, it’s just not possible. i turn a lot of things down because it just doesn’t jive. if it’s something i like and syncs up then ok fuck yeah. if someone mails me something i like the no-brainer favour returning thing to do is blog it – win-win i have more material, free product, glory etc etc.

the gin party for example, of course there’s product placement present – big deal, i have enough faith in my readers to not be blind monkeys and say yes to everything i ever post about.

as for blogging events after the fact – i don’t see how that really is all that promotional seeing as said event already took place and there is no way the reader can be involved with it other than seeing highlights. i tend to NOT promote things beforehand because i have paranoia issues. jesus! i won’t even say that i am going out for a walk or to a jays game beforehand and that’s promoting nothing.

also, the majority of posts on this blog are all ME-centric not products.

  8. this is the best ever, thanks!!

also, I just posted a link on my facebook oops I hope I’m not becoming a shallow promotional tool

  9. People are way to good at tellin ya what they don’t like. Plain and simple, this is your space in the world and what you do is real and honest. I think it takes alot of balls to execute the type of work you do. Keep on keepin on and F the naysayers :)

  10. can i avoid the debate and say i cant stop laughing at the last line of this post. DOESNT ANYONE REMEMBER LAUGHTER

  11. Yeah you’re still fighting the good fight. It would be far worse if you wrote an entire post just because someone paid you to specifically write a post to link to a product. OOPS THAT’S WHAT I DID.

They don’t ask me to do it any more though. Maybe because using it as an excuse to talk about boobs and masturbation wasn’t what they had in mind.

  12. yah just ignore that shit, if you can find a way to get free stuff/paid without spending 8 hrs a day in a cubicle/behind a counter then you got my thumbs up 4ever. xoxoxx

  13. Meh, douche. Your blog is rad and getting free stuff is fun. This is your world and your blog. I bet there’s more than that dude who wishes he were .01% as cool as you. Remember when the Andy Pool Hall guy freaked on me? You told me it just means you’re more famous. Hope you get some free classes!! :)

  14. gettin mad at raymi over advertising is kinda shallow. i’ve read “no logo” just as completely as the next useless hipster but you’re not gonna avoid advertisements, you’re gonna wake up and get a kind of a coffee and you’re gonna see thousands of billboards and well-painted transports are gonna turn their corners just as slow as their wheels can turn while you wait in a heightened (hence memorable) state for it to get out of the way. and they’re gonna mix it in with your newspapers and mail and by lunchtime you were reminded or informed of the existence of 1000 irrelevant companies, it gets overwhelming and invasive and i agree.

but it’s fine and fair and forgiven here and here’s why. it’s a blog and it writes reality and if it were to edit out anything corporate then it’s just fantasy and insincere. artists and people in general need a place to grow for anything to come out of it, historically and traditionally there’s patrons of the arts and sponsors and even just look at nascar, whether you love it or what it’s a simple fact that those cars wouldn’t go that fast if it weren’t for corporate sponsorship and money. and anyway like 99% of her posts aren’t about anything corporate.

so it isn’t her jumpin the shark it’s you jumpin the gun.

  15. Useful comment time: as long as you give your honest opinion of a product/event/whatever, and don’t try to hide that something was a “perk” or blah blah, no big deal. And if somebody does pay you to mention something or offer you freebies, just mention that fact, problem solved. Which seems to be what you do, so… no big deal. It’s only the disingenuous crap on people’s websites that bothers me.

And in response to Sass’s comment way up thar re:commercials… that’s why I support this: http://www.beautifulcity.ca/ — billboards are practically the only form of advertising we have to stare at without any kind of payback. We watch a commercial, we get to see a TV show. We look at a magazine ad, we get to pay less for that magazine.

Everything needs to be supported SOMEHOW. I wonder if twat up there would prefer to pay to look at your site?
