burn watch

i don’t think you are ready for this, new discovery of mine. i am about to be super rich now because i have figured out how to get rid of hand wrinkles. pour boiling water on it and burn your skin off. voila. (for the morons out there reading this no do not actually do that, thank you, i do the dumb things so you don’t have to).

it’s like, the tanorexic aunt’s face/entire body in something about mary.

i don’t think i’ll have a scar or skin difference in colouration/pigment change though with my luck, it’s probably safe to say that i will definitely have exactly all that and then a tree will fall on me. it’s nice how the vanilla tone of the sheets brings out the tan burn, makes it pop. my hand is SO ready for bikini season now. i have been slathering lotion all over it obsessively like eight pints of st. ives. last summer from biking like a maniac all over town my hands became very tanned and leathery. i am going to find the strongest spf lotion there is. i am doing summer right this time. the minx nails set off my hand tan too. sigh.

  1. Holy Hell!! Do you have an aloe vera plant around? Break one of the arms off and use the ooze.

  2. it doesn’t burn anymore . i toughed out the pain because i am a man. i am very lucky it didn’t blister and it’s peeling at the pace a burn from cancun would, two days later. total phewf.

  3. ouch had a burn very much like that myself(note if you ever drop a rag into a deep fryer don’t attempt to get it out with your hand). At least you didn’t fuck up your nails.

    Crispy!

P.S big fan of Bum watch

  4. Looks like we’re all big time accident prone!
I lost 2 teeth in vegas (not pulling as in the hangover)
Slap a little Arnica gel on the burn – supposed to minimize the scar tissue from the burn….
Off to the dentist I go!

  5. i had a burn exactly like that, also from boiling water from when i worked at a coffee shop, and my hand actually returned totally to normal. i was sure i would be disfigured.

  6. much nice raymes, don’t think i’ve noticed your special curve … keep_it_up: ++cardio –weed.

  7. “raymbotumblr will have some action for you periodically (if you can make sense of it, place is ‘tarded over there) if you’re jonesin’ hard.” – muahaha i love this. do you talk like this in real life?

  8. I would vote that no scar is likely. But:

Arnica is probably a placebo last I heard of it (the homeopathic preparations and tablets are DEFINITELY placebos). I was so hopeful before I looked it up a year or two ago. Always injured :(

Vitamin E has some mixed studies, but can sometimes make things worse.

Stick with the aloe. It has the most support, but it IS at the least soothing/cooling, and you don’t want that burn drying out.

Or just use any other moisturizer. Body Shop hemp stuff is my favourite. Or cocoa butter (scar prevention potential for that stuff is also overhyped, though).

If the peeling bit of it feels moist or warm to the touch, topical antibiotic. Hydrocortisone if it starts to get itchy and moisturizing doesn’t work well enough. Or benzocaine.

Neutrogena SPF 100 all summer. Or any brand with avobenzone.

This potentially excessive information brought to you by 29 years of burns and general klutziness. Though I don’t burn myself much anymore — I approach boiling water assuming it is the enemy.

  9. dudes relax i dont know if you have been paying attention or not but i haven’t had internet so i cant approve comments takes too long from phone.

  10. I used to use that stuff on scrapes/burns that were already itchy, but I looked it up after using it on my hands and they BECAME itchy. Probably doesn’t do anything special for healing/scars and something like 1/3 of people have an allergic reaction. Sneaky damned goop. So that’s why my first choice is anything called not that (it’s actually called “which of these cheapish options has the nicest bottle”). If it’s working for you and you’re hive-free, though, stick with it. Your burn DOES look way better.

  11. candice your neurotic need to be right and have the last word is showing. its working for me, we have different skin.
