catchup ketchup

Here’s a few jams and tales from the past whenever. I feel like every time spring is upon us there’s an uh why am I doing this, who am I, look at how warm it is out there, what’s the point of talking about some cheese I ate last nite again? collective internet moment. Then it passes and you’re like oh right, i’m awesome, time to churn out some more everything-insensitive humour.

nana and her giant beer, she copied me, asked if it were a shandy, newp just straight coors light. hey remember that week i was grounded (one day ask me what i was grounded for) and held captive at your house when i was 16 and there was a street dance and you let me get ripped on shandies? grounded ruled! (note the scratch tickets, nana’s got the gamble fever).

i love how my mom looks here, all 70s miami beachy.

cid and i having a moment.

there’s a pretty (please give me a new word for gay please, please?) nice video of this moment also an even funnier picture i accidentally overrode (saved) with a picture of stupid mario kart scores.

see? ugh. anyway i kicked ass and dave was doin’ pretty good until he had himself a funny cigarette.

so as previously mentioned the makeup i use has been discontinued and now they’ve hiked up the price of the remaining jars of it in shoppers, so i’m switching to liquid. i am notoriously known for wearing loads of makeup, and apparently all wrong at it too i just can’t bring myself to ever go makeup free cos the dark circles under my eyes are terrifyingly ugly, they’re like, ball sack red veiny-looking (most effective comparison i can think of no probs) thanks to my british ancestry. anyway, i never really learned how to properly paint my face and am interested in any makeup artist out there game for giving me a lesson and suggesting the best makeup to go with (preferably cheapest too) on the regular. i heard there’s this awesome makeup for car accident/burn victims too that’s good for day after a wicked bender fyi, don’t think i’m ready for that yet ha.

this

plus this

equals this.

cid loves steak nite.

we had a few different boxes going for him then it just got retarded so we pitched them with the rest of the recycling and now everything is back to normal with his envelope box that he will inevitably bust through which i totally hope to bear witness of.

during saturday’s buzz from across the room i found this to be real arty-looking, good thing i got 4 blurry pictures of it pfft.

this too spoke to me.

artist at work.

we barely made it through SNL (wasn’t JT great though).

mother’s day happiness.

pose deux.

little red raccoon friend showed up saturday for a little while and dave became very interested in his well-being much to the chagrin of fil (also sensitive about animals) so this guy disrupted each mario kart race a tad.

we’re sure he’s fine, just woke up a bit early.

  1. i want to snuggle cid for hours and hours, he looks so snuggle-able.

i think that you should buy nice makeup, but only for certain things. splurge on concealer/foundation, but go for cheap (like maybelline or whatever) on powder, eyeshadow, bronzer, etc. i buy the most expensive “cheap” eyeliner, like the priciest maybelline one…i also always splurge on mascara, because cheap stuff just gives you a uni-lash.

i use MAC for my expensive stuff…they have awesome concealer and mascara. they also have like 80000 colors of eyeshadow which can be hard to resist at times.

anyways, i’m not a makeup pro but i’ve tried a lot of different shit. so that’s my opinion, for what it’s worth.

  2. I have THE worst under eye circles, looks like I have black eyes/am a junkie 14 year old when I don’t wear make up. I once was told that concealer has varying degrees of coverage and I use the scar covering variety under my eyes. I don’t use make-up on the rest of my face but I probably should. My brand is cheap but I’d say go MAC if you are gonna splurge. Despite appearances I find the retail employees there to be super helpful and knowledgeable about your specific needs. Good luck!

  3. You need to splurge on ALL of your make-up. BUT you need a sponsor or something – OR start to make friends with the fabulous and magical gay (correct usage) guys at MAC or wherevs. If you had friends who work for a dept. store make-up counter, they get ‘gratis’ (free shit) CONSTANTLY and they will be able to give you extras. MAC gives its employees a 30% discount, too, so buying stuff is even better… It is SO worth it!! Schmooze!

I can’t stop my usage of the work ‘gay’ because it is so so appropriate in some situations to explain things – so I like just doing the ‘ghey’ spelling and calling it a different word altogether – gay=homosexual, ghey=hopelessly lame & stupid. I know, I know, I’m totally ghey…

  4. well i want a demo and i want free mac. how can you wear it only under your eyes without it looking like you only have makeup under your eyes? i used to do that in elem. school and sometimes i’d forget to blend it and i’d be waiting for the bus with two orange half moons under my eyes til my friend had the nerve to be like dude what the f is on your face and of course who carries a mirror in grade 5? ugh.

i think my problem is i use my fingers, i need to buy sponges.

  5. we find empty 2-4 boxes for cans to be a great hit with our kitty. replaceable every few months of course, right party allowing.

  6. mac will give you small samples of concealer in a couple of different shades if you ask them. you can take them home and give them a whirl. they give it in little teeny jars. and they will tell you not to use sponges cuz they just soak up all your makeup and make it run out faster. which i find is true. they’ll recommend their stupid expensive brushes… but i find fingers work just fine.

  7. Macs eyeshadows are 16 bucks a piece but they last a ridiculously long time. Some of the colours I have I’ve had for 4 years or more now and they’re not even close to being done. If you want to use cheaper eyeshadows then at least purchase a base liquid shadow from mac. They have them in sticks and in tubes. They last forever and it makes it so the makeup sticks to your eyes and you don’t get that gross crease of conglomerated makeup halfway through the day.

Definitely splurge on some of the things. If you’re going to spend money on anything I’d spend the money on foundation and concealers. Also, tattoo cover up makeup works awesome for dark circles or shitty zits.

Another good trick for under eye circles is a very pale shimmery pink eye brightener. Watch some edpisodes of “What not to Wear” and their makeup artist on there gives you some wicked tips.

  8. Also, tattoo cover up makeup works awesome for dark circles or shitty zits. ooh nice one. i learned another one for dark circles is to brush lighter foundation at the top of the bridge of your nose/between eyebrows – the contrast of light up there vs the dark circles distracts from the dark. also blunt bangs help.

  9. I have bad bags under my eyes as well, the result of insomnia most nights. Lol, I use concealor most of the time and use a bit of powder lightly, just under my eyes. Then I throw on some mascara.

I use the N.Y.C line, for my foundation. I think it’s the cheapest, lol. I pay like not even $4 for my powder, though they dont have a huge selection. I use translucent, with the concealor stick. ThenI throuw on some bronzer. Its great for the Nude look.

  10. i’ve tried bare minerals, i found it a tad too shimmery cuz of the mica in it. it doesn’t photograph well, i felt i looked like a greaser when i wore it.
the tattoo cover up i think is called CoverFX. I went to the Bay and the slapped that all over my face. it does cover well, and it’s supposed to not have any bad ingredients in it (and its a canadian company). but a tube of it is like 40 bucks. and of course it looks better when you buy their ‘primer’ as well. which is another 40. what makeup do you normally use??

  11. you’d prob love Mac’s Studio Fix liquid makeup. it’s 25-30 bucks i think. it covers like a dream if you like a matte finish. i’ve tried to veer away from mac, and be all earthy with natural shit, but nothing is as good as that particular foundation. in my opinion anyways.

  12. hey i used to use Dream Matte Mousse too but then i switched to maybelline’s Mineral Power pressed powder..it works almost better than foundation/concealer! and its not as heavy which is awesome…it has a thin sponge that comes with it and it works great for blending…i totally recommend that

  13. well i just applied maybelline’s new age rewind cream, the annoying thing with switching is figuring out the right tint, ugh. i always go a little darker cos i always intend to tan with it on so my body is tan but face is ghosty – right now i feel like my face is a goddamn orange. also hard to wear white too stands out extra. here’s some pics with and without flash doesn’t exactly capture it well, but i’m rushing out the door so it’s gotta do. when i put it on it’s wet and makes my eyes sting then it dries and we’re good, i fear biking with it on in a minute will make my eyes tear up. hope not. bought it cos it’s on sale for 11.99 at shoppers right now reg price 15.99 http://www.flickr.com/photos/raymilauren/sets/72157618103641058/ i also put on an assload of bronzer to distract from the overall orange of this shit.

  14. I’ve been using ‘erase paste’ by Benefit. TOTALLY MAGICAL. Plus, use a brush instead of fingers or sponges, it makes a world of difference. So, all I use is a little bit of that around my eyes and some light powder, et voila, a totally different person. magical.

  15. um heard once that applying baby ass cream round yer eyes before going to bed makes it go away! tried it and if my memory doesnt fail me it did feel nicer, like puffy it was not. not sure about depth though. there’s this eyecream by the brand simple i think it is called kind to eyes and it is my god.not sure you have this over there though but check it out http://www.simple.co.uk/categories/Kind-to-Eyes-213.aspx

  16. So Raymi, your mom grew up in the seventies. Be afraid, be very afraid. Or go watch the “Seventies Show” and laugh your A** off about the seventies. I was there!

    Captain Obvs

  17. i know it’s pricey – but i could use it and nothing else and it erases everything, and highlights everything and its like a one stop shop so you barely have to use anything else and unlike concealer which i find too think, its wonderfully light and pretty and magical and that is……
    ….Touche Eclat by YSL.

Also – you have really beautiful skin, would you consider a lighter liquid vs full coverage or do you like the full coverage for the camera? I love Stila. If you’re not into dewiness though, it might be a little sheer.

As for mascara – don’t buy expensive stuff – maybelline great lash is fine and you can comb your lashes if you need – but do get a good curler like a Shu Umera (sp?) or one that has rubber pads…sephora’s isn’t bad.

    Nars blush rocks my world.

rant over. i love war paint. Come see my make up room sometime, hahaha that’s how intense i get.

  18. typically yes beavis of course, i don’t have time for your obvious wisdom right now unfortunately though i notice you’re commenting from Swarovski Canada – can you hook me up?

  19. I should have added — I can never find a good colour to match my disgustingly pale skin. So I buy a darker orangy kind of one and I buy a pale ivory pinky toned one, and mix them. Then you can adjust as you tan too
