u need to write a book u grew up under so many restrictions. i remember seeing beer bottles cooling in an ice cold stream at the cottage I am 4 years old and I was like mmm that looks delicious. our parents all givin’er on the deck ahhh.

You’re totally right about acquiring a taste. There’s so much booze I just can’t stand but I think it’s because I grew up in a tee-totaler family so I have no nostalgia of pops giving me a sip of his beer and wanting to act like a grownup so trying so hard to like it. It’s the same way with meat. Like, until I stopped being a vegetarian (raised that way) the smell of beef browning made me want to puke. Literally the worst smell ever. I don’t mind it now, but I still remember how bad it smelled before. Weird, right?

I knew the time was coming to quit when the lively motorcycle rides to work were not enough to shake the last vestiges of the night before’s debauchery. 6:30am round table meetings when you knew you smelled like booze and clearly had 1 foot still in the gutter. Hey at least I wasn’t partially responsible for delivering airliner’s to customers around the world…
Just like my dad used to say “always drink whisky instead of vodka, so they know you are drunk, not stupid”!
