I stopped letting my over emotional friends and family members dump thier issues and problems on me some time ago after realising how draining and mood changing it was. Yes, I lost some people because of it after putting up the boundries.
I simply said, think of me as the “good time person”, a distraction to your woes in life. But I won’t vent on you if you do the same.

And the quote you wrote about sadness resonates, I think cronic dysthymia is unfortunately a family trait that gets sent to battle daily, and one finds ways to distract from it. Anyone who understands sadness may be able to relate.

Brilliant writing here!

So much , So soon at a young age and the mind and body snapped. And hearts were broken watching and praying for full recoveries all around. You came back fighting all the way and any help and councelling offered was better than nothing.
One Dr. said if she uses her smarts against her stubborn rebellion she will lean towards the positive instead of the negative, and will have a good life. A slow process but you got it!

And if vanity is one of the things that makes you stay away from the darkside, then so be it. Nothing more aging and death seeking then addictions.

But I’d like to think its more than that. I think you finally realise it really is a sin against your beauty,gifts and talent. And to lean into the darkside is just a wasted life.
