The main reason being that too many people jumped in = saturation. Another is that the very nature of the medium is a major mystique killer. People are beginning to realize that their so-called celebrity heroes are just as boring as they are and they’re tuning out. Finally, there’s no money in it for the lay person; Corporations have tried to adopt it and when they jump on something, the whole thing begins to ring false and collapses. Right now Grandpa is dancing to it.

However, viral media still has a life and should for the foreseeable future, not to mention that there is actually money to be made there too.
