I didn’t really like “in Bruges” but I enjoyed how well it showed Bruges and made the location relevant to the plot. (By the way, the love interest character’s name/accent confused me to no end. French name, working on a Dutch film, had an accent that was neither Dutch nor French consistently).

Amsterdam is also great, but I wouldn’t say “better” – just Dutch in spirit as opposed to Belgian, and more a place you’d want to live, perhaps, rather than sightsee. Ghent is also a gorgeous, very charming Belgian city that is a bit less touristic than Bruges. If you ever take a european vacation someday it’s recommended – but the Netherlands is worth seeing too!
