I sure got the WATCHMEN fever. It is the pinnacle of graphic novel comic-books and on Time’s list of 100 greatest novels of all time. Not just graphic novels, NOVELS in general. Would you believe it?! WUTHERING HEIGHTS, GREAT EXPECTATIONS, CATCHER IN THE RYE…and THE WATCHMEN.

The movie will be dark and layered, with 3-dimensional “superheroes” full of neuroses. The darkness all began in 1939 when The Comedian raped Silk Spectre (the first). Much, much later, she has a daughter by her business manager (yes, superheroes in this world have business managers) who becomes Silk Spectre (the second). S.S. II becomes involved with Dr. Manhattan, a human who by accident in a military research facility was disintegrated…and came back, with genuine superpowers, making all the previous fisticuff- and gadget- superheroes obsolete. He returned suspended in mid-air, hence the allusion to your photo.

The movie begins in 1985, after superheroes are discredited, outlawed and forced to retire. Someone is killing the “masks” one by one, starting with The Comedian. No one is sure if the motive is from the past or the present.
